Subhadramma Mansur receives Nadoja Award
HAMPI
Jan. 6.
Subhadramma Mansur, a stage artiste and vocalist, was among the six persons to receive the Nadoja Award at the 12th "Nudihabba" of Kannada University on Monday.
The Governor and Chancellor of the university, T.N. Chaturvedi, conferred the award, which is equivalent to D.Lit degree. The Minister for Higher Education, G. Parmeshwar, who is the Pro-Chancellor of the university, was present. G. Narayan, litterateur and former Chairman of the Karnataka Patrika Academy, Geeta Nagabhushan, novelist, and V. Narayan Reddy, a farmer, were the other three to receive the award. Chandrashekar Kambar, former Vice-Chancellor of the university, and K.S. Nissar Ahmed, poet, who were chosen for the award, did not attend the convocation.
The University has conferred D.Lit degree to Venkataiah Appageri and L.H. Girijamma besides awarding Ph.D. to 44 persons and MPhil degrees to 23.
