CHENNAI JAN. 6. A light rain is possible in some areas on Wednesday. The sky will remain partly cloudy.

On Tuesday, the maximum temperature at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam was 28.6 and 28.8 degrees Celsius respectively, while the minimum was 21.5 and 22 degrees Celsius.

The humidity level was 70 and 71 per cent respectively.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended on Thursday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in parts of Egmore, J.J. Nagar, S.K. Nagar, Park Town, Chinmaya Nagar, Ambattur, Gopalapuram and Korukkupet.

Camp

The Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi will camp at Adambakkam on January 8 and 9; at Madipakkam on January 10 and 11 and at Chromepet on January 12 and 13.

Talk delivered

A talk on surface engineering of piston rings was delivered last week by N. Gowri Shankar, Executive Director of IP Rings, at Sri Sai Ram Engineering College, Tambaram.

Dr. Subaraya, Principal Researcher, Infosys Technology, gave a talk on the theme "Services on e-commerce - need of the hour" at Rajalakshmi Engineering College a week ago.

Oratorical competition

The St. John Ambulance will conduct a oratorical competition on road safety in English and Tamil for colleges, central schools and higher secondary schools on January 12 and 13 on its premises on Ramanathan Road, Chetput.
