Haryana Govt. to release funds for developmental work

CHANDIGARH JAN.7. The Haryana Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, today announced that Rs.62 crore would be released soon to various municipal

bodies in the State to undertake developmental works announced under the `Sarkar Aapke Dwar' programme.

Mr.Chautala, who was presiding over a meeting of the Chairmen of Municipal Bodies and Improvement Trusts here, urged them to ensure the completion of developmental works under the programme positively by March 31.

He disclosed that the State Government had got petrol pumps sanctioned from the Centre for various municipalities in Haryana. He, therefore, urged them to set up their petrol pumps at the earliest as these would help them in generating resources. The Improvement Trust Act was being amended to make it more effective. The Government had restored the Improvement Trusts as part of its drive to beautify cities. He urged the

Chairmen of Improvement Trusts to concentrate on beautifying cities and improving facilities for the people.

He also urged them to formulate plans and submit them to the Government for approval besides devising ways and means to generate their resources. He directed them to ensure judicious use of funds and check irregularities with a firm hand. The Improvement Trusts and

Municipal Bodies should work in close coordination for the development of their respective areas.

The Minister of State for Urban Development, Subhash Goyal, urged them to involve the people in developmental works in their respective areas.

The Commissioner and Secretary, Urban Development, P.K.Gupta, urged them to supervise the work on various projects to ensure the quality of material being used. The Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B.D.Dhalia, and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
