The Centre informed the court that the elections will be conducted in consultation with the Chief Commissioner of Gurdwara Elections and other concerned agencies. Chohan in his petition before a division bench comprising Chief Justice B K Roy and Justice G S Singhvi had alleged that the SGPC elections were not being held even though they were due in 2001. Chohan had pointed out initially the SGPC polls were held in 1979 and thereafter a gap of 17 years the same were held in 1996. However after that no elections were held.- PTI
