Accent on symmetry between science, spirituality

MADURAI JAN.7. The symmetry between science and spirituality was highlighted at the inaugural of a special exhibition on `life and teachings of Sri Sarada Devi', at the Sri Sarada Vidyavanam Girls' Matriculation Higher Secondary School here on Monday.

Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was the only spiritualist, who could see a link between science and spirituality and for Swami Vivekananda spirituality was the child of science while Sri Sarada Devi embodied motherliness of God, the Vice-Chancellor of the Madurai Kamaraj University, P. K. Ponnuswamy, said after inaugurating the exhibition. Originating from India, spirituality was pervading the nook and corner of the globe, he said, urging the student community to honour the words of wisdom of great people of the past, in the interest of humanity. Quoting Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, the Vice-Chancellor said God could be found through service to the poor.

The head of the Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Swami Kamalatmananda, said Sri Sarada Devi propagated prevention of wastage and a frugal life.

Nearly 13,000 students from schools in and around the city are expected to visit the seven-day exhibition conducted in connection with the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Sarada Devi.

Swami Nitynananda, head of the Tiruppurathurai Ramakrishna Mutt, presided.
