Four arrested on murder charge

BANGALORE Jan. 7. The city police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of Lokesh (28) of Manjunathnagar near Widia factory on Tumkur Road. Police said the accused allegedly murdered Lokesh in a lodge at Marappanapalya in RMC Yard police limits on January 1. He was working as a helper in the lodge. He reportedly quarrelled with his colleague over sharing money when they were celebrating New Year in the lodge. However, other workers pacified them and Lokesh went to sleep on the fourth floor of the lodge where he was reportedly assaulted with iron rods. Police gave the names of the arrested as Shivakumar (24) of Manjunath Nagar, Nagaraj (22) of Lakshmipura, Ramesh (28) of Yeshwantpur, and Bheema (28) from Kundapur taluk in Uttara Kannada district.

Two arrested: The city police have arrested two persons on the charge of murder. They said the body of Subbaraya (25) of Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh was found in a decomposed state inside a hut at NTI Layout in Vidyaranyapura police station limits on December 24. Kaverappa, a building contractor, who employed Subbaraya, identified the body. Police booked a case of murder after the post-mortem report stated that the victim was murdered. Police gave the names of the arrested as Yuvaraj (20) of Thirupattur and Suresh of Alasapally village in Tamil Nadu. They had allegedly murdered Subbaraya over a dispute, police said.

Killed in accident: A man died after a private bus hit him at Hoskerehalli Junction in Girinagar police limits on Tuesday.

Police said the accident occurred when Chikkayya (70) of Hoskerehalli was crossing the road. He died in hospital.
