BANGALORE
Jan. 7.
The Byatarayanapura City Municipal Council (CMC), with help from the E-Governments Foundation and the Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre, will take up mapping and computerisation of all 31 wards in the CMC.
Under the project, all properties coming under the municipality will be mapped and computerised. A pilot project has already been initiated in Vidyaranyapura ward, the CMC President, S.Srinivas Raju, said here.
Mr. Raju told presspersons that mapping of properties had been completed in ward 3, 10, and 11 and work was under progress in ward 22 and 31. Over 70 personnel were involved in the computerisation work, which was likely to be completed in 10 days. This apart, the CMC would simplify procedures and introduce online facility for issuing birth, death, and possession (khata) certificates, Mr. Raju said.
The CMC would unveil a host of IT initiatives including its website - www.byatarayanapura.com and a 24-hour customer complaint cell for people to call and register civic complaints.
The CMC had tied up with 10 banks for payment of property tax through the Self Assessment Scheme (SAS) of property tax.
The CMC's Rs 1.9 crore revenue had increased to Rs. 2.780 crore up to December 2003. "We expect the revenue to increase by another Rs. 1.5 crore in the next three months," Mr. Raju said and added that the CMC planned to construct public toilets under the "Nirmala Nagara" project.
