Mohandas assumes charge as AIU president

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Jan. 7. K. Mohandas, Director of the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), has formally assumed charge as the 79th president of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

A post-graduate in anaesthesiology, Dr. Mohandas became the SCTIMST director in 1994. Currently the Vice-Chair of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, he was also the first Indian to receive honorary fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists of the U.K. late last year.
