Letters to the Editor
Sir, In his article, `The education wars' (Jan. 8), Pratap Bhanu Mehta has rightly focussed on the increasing interventions of the Centre in higher education. Universities have been losing much of their autonomy. A vast country with lot of diversities and disparities cannot have a single system of education. Too much centralisation will kill all initiatives. S.S. Rajagopalan, Chennai * * * Sir, The article should be an eye-opener to the authorities and to the academic community. It is a report on the derailment of the higher education train in the country. A.S. Ratnam, Cheepurupalli, A.P.
