`Tax relief pro-rich'

INDUKURPET (NELLORE DT), JAN. 9. The All-India Congress Committee general secretary, Ghulam Nabi Azad, has described as `pro-rich' the tax relief announced by the Central Government on Thursday.

Addressing a public meeting at Indukurpet of the Sarvepalli constituency, represented by the Information Minister, S. Chandramohan Reddy, on Friday, he referred to the concessions allowed in respect of air travel, computers and cell phones and pointed out that there was no single concession for the poor. The concessions only reflected the mindset of the Telugu Desam Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party, who, he said, had always stood for welfare of the rich.
