HYDERABAD, JAN. 9. The stage is set for the national executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party here on January 11 and 12. The event has assumed considerable political significance against the backdrop of the likelihood of early Lok Sabha polls. The meeting has become all the more important after the NDA has left the decision on early elections to the Lok Sabha to the Prime Minister, A.B. Vajpayee, even as the Government has announced sops signalling the polls. It is expected that the BJP executive may take a decision to dissolve the Lok Sabha at its meeting here. Though the meeting will be inaugurated at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Hotel Viceroy, the organisational work begins on Saturday afternoon when five general secretaries and the president, M. Venkaiah Naidu, sit to finalise the agenda for the meeting and draft the resolutions. The city has been decked up for the occasion with roads getting a facelift and hoardings, banners and flags seen all over. Potholes have been repaired wherever the VVIP movement is expected. As many as 60 State guests, including seven Chief Ministers, will camp in different Government Guest Houses in the city on the two days. The Ministers Road, leading to the Viceroy Hotel from airport, has been blacktopped and footpaths near the venue given a fresh coat of paint. Two huge welcome arches have also been erected at the hotel entrance. The police carried out a dress rehearsal of the Prime Minister's convoy from Raj Bhavan to the hotel via Necklace Road. Traffic was held up on the Tank Bund road during the exercise on Friday.
