DEHRA DUN, JAN 9. The Uttaranchal Tourism Department has sanctioned Rs 7 crore for providing more amenities to pilgrims on the ``Char Dham'' circuit of the State. According to Uttaranchal Tourism Secretary Naresh Nandan Prasad, the road from Rambaara to Kedarnath will be broadened and will be made a double-lane route for which Rs 3.5 crore has been sanctioned. Railings will be set up on the Char Dham routes as part of the upgradation of the famous pilgrim circuit comprising Gangotri, Badrinath, Kedarnath and Yamunotri shrines, said Mr Prasad. Work on this will begin from February 15 and most of it will be completed by the end of April, he added. The Yatra season begins in May every year and concludes in November. Mr Prasad said that a Mobile Task Force would be constituted during the Yatra season this year which would deal with the problems of pilgrims and tourists. Tourist assistance centres will also be set up at ten places on the yatra routes. Local people will run these centres which will have toilets, PCOs, potable water and souvenirs for tourists, said Mr Prasad. - UNI
