Scholarships: TDP leader denies charge

HYDERABAD, JAN. 9. The former Government Whip in the Assembly, Palle Raghunadha Reddy, has strongly denied allegations of misuse of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe scholarships sanctioned by the Government to students enrolled in educational institutions owned by him in Anantapur district.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, he clarified that Social Welfare officials had sent a notice to his colleges asking the authorities to maintain records but this did not mean that any irregularities had been committed. The notices were routine in nature and had been sent to all colleges where some minor procedural lapses were found.

The TDP leader said he had requested the Chief Minister to order for an inquiry by a senior official.
