CUDDAPAH, JAN. 10. The Collector, Jayesh Ranjan, on Saturday said self-help groups would be accorded priority in Government schemes and assured bank loans to members of rythu mitra groups. Speaking after inaugurating a training camp for multi-purpose village and agricultural extension officers on strengthening the rythu mitra groups at the Syndicate Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) and Self-Employment Training here, the Collector advised officials concerned to strive to facilitate the social and economic development of 6,460 rythu mitra groups. He released a booklet on the training programme for the groups. The Joint Director of Agriculture, P.S. Patnaik, said a multi-purpose agricultural extension officer was appointed for every 1,000 hectares stretch of land. The Director of SIRD, M.D.V. Varma, said the institute was set up by Syndicate Bank to help farmers and the unemployed.
