KAKINADA, JAN. 10. P.R. Government College, an autonomous institution, has achieved the distinction of being the first among Government colleges in the State and the first in the Andhra University area, to secure the accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and was conferred "B two plus" grade in the nine point scale. According to the college principal, Bharata Lakshmi, this grade is considered prestigious as it has been given only to two more colleges in the entire country. Out of a staggering 13,000 affiliated, both private and Government colleges in the country, only a hundred colleges have gone for the "NAAC" assessment after it was established by the University Grants Commission in 1994 as the national agency for evaluating and grading higher education institutions.
