Amit, Farokh hog the limelight

MUMBAI, JAN. 10. Indian sailors Amit Arvind and former World Enterprise champion Farokh Tarapore grabbed the spotlight with a fine exhibition of sailing skills on the second day of the 11th Asian Sailing Championships.

The former won the third race in the Laser Radial class, the latter finished ahead of competition in two 420 Open class races on Saturday in the event sponsored by Tatas, Indianoil and Mazagaon Docks.

Malaysia's Alvin Yeow overcame a difficult start to sail ahead in race three, Singapore's Gregory Ho led from start to finish in race four. Pakistan's Enterprise class sailors Arshad Sheryar-Muhammad Riaz won race three, India's Naresh Yadav-G L Yadav won the fourth race.

Windsurfing, held at H2O complex off Girgaum Chowpatty, saw China's Gao Chuanwei and Chen Qui Bin retaining lead in men's lightweight and women's categories respectively, Indonesia's Sulakshana Oka won both men's heavyweight class events where India's Derek Menezes stood third. — Our Special Correspondent
