Congress for CBI probe into tourism land allotment

VISAKHAPATNAM, JAN. 10. The Congress has demanded a CBI probe into allotment of lands to private parties in the name of tourism by the Telugu Desam Party Government.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the All-India Congress Committee secretary and Congress observer for elections in Andhra Pradesh, V. Narayanaswami, said that in Visakhapatnam and other places in the State, the TDP Government had allotted prime lands for a song to its supporters.

"This is clearly a big scandal to be thoroughly probed. We have no faith in the State machinery and we want a CBI probe into the allotment of tourism lands here,'' he said.

The Congress would also not rest till all the bogus voters were removed from electoral rolls, he stated.

Already, the issue of bogus voters' entry was taken up with the Election Commission along with the Opposition parties and the Election Commission had assured them that of the 49 lakh bogus voters, 29 lakhs had been deleted, he said.
