HYDERABAD, JAN. 10. The four youngsters who were picked up on Friday on the charges of hatching a plot to kill the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president, N. Indrasena Reddy, acted at the behest of an Inter Services Intelligence (ISI)-trained militant, the Hyderabad police has said. Investigations revealed that the arrested -- Mohd. Abdul Khader Pasha of Medak district, Mohd. Abdul Raheem, Mohd. Abdul Zahed and Ibrahim Ali Junaid (all from Hyderabad) had also targeted the former BJP MLA, Baddam Bal Reddy, and one Babji, a resident of Moosarambagh, the City Police Commissioner, R. P. Singh, told reporters. A country-made .32 revolver, four live rounds, 10 gelatine sticks, 10 detonators, a VCD exhibiting `atrocities' on Muslims in Gujarat, an audio cassette of the Jaish-e-Mohammed chief, Masood Azhar's speeches, photocopies of his photos and Jihadi literature were seized from them. Mr. Singh said except for Pasha, the other three were members of the Darsgah-Jihad-O-Shahadat (DJS). He said the police had collected records to establish their affiliation to DJS. Five others from the city allegedly owing allegiance to Jaish-e-Mohammed, including the ISI-trained militant, Shaheed of Malakpet, who were presently in Saudi Arabia and had masterminded the plot, were still at large. The others suspects reportedly absconding were Shakeel of Malakpet, Farhatullah Ghori, Abu Sufiyan and Zaki-ur-Raheem. Mr. Singh said the plot was foiled when the Task Force officials intercepted a plumber, Pasha of Moinapura in Siddipet, in the city on Friday evening. Pasha confessed to the police that he had come to Hyderabad to attend a secret meeting being convened by Raheem, Zahed and Junaid at a plastic moulding workshop in Moosarambagh. The trio were later rounded up based on his confession. When questioned, it was revealed that they were acting on the directions of Shaheed, who was an accused in the Gujarat riots conspiracy case. According to Mr. Singh, the accused had studied the localities where the houses of Mr. Indrasena Reddy and Mr. Baddam Bal Reddy were located. They found it easy to attack Mr. Indrasena Reddy as he was spotted, sometimes, moving around with less security. Following a land dispute between two communities, Mr. Indrasena Reddy had visited Moosarambagh locality several times to sort out the matter. This provided the accused a chance to closely watch his movements, the Police Commissioner said. After surveying the localities, the accused decided that Mr. Indrasena Reddy's office at Osmanghad was a `convenient' place to carry out the attack, Mr. Singh said. In the light of the findings, the police have decided to provide additional security to Mr. Indrasena Reddy and other BJP leaders if necessary, he added.
