Woman loses ornaments worth Rs. 75,000

BANGALORE, JAN. 10. Two youths, who came on a motorcycle, snatched a vanity bag that contained gold ornaments worth Rs. 75,000 from a woman identified as Kaveri in 1st Block, Koramangala, around 8 p.m. on Friday.

The police said that Dr. Kaveri was on her way to attend a marriage at a kalyana mantap when the youths snatched her bag.

The Koramangala police have registered a case in this connection .

In another incident reported from Vyalikaval police station limits on Saturday, two youths, who came on a scooter, snatched away a bag containing Rs. 55,000 in cash from an elderly man.

According to the police, around 11 a.m., P.M. Ranganath (68), a retired government employee, was going to his house after drawing Rs. 55,000 from the State Bank of Mysore's branch on 9th cross, Vyalikaval. The scooter-borne youths pushed Mr. Ranganath, snatched the cash bag from him and sped away.

The Vyalikaval police have registered a case.

Two killed

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents reported from the Airport police station and K.R. Puram police station limits on Friday.

A 12-year-old boy, Bala, who was returning home from school was killed on the spot when a tractor hit him at Nellurpuram Bande around 1 p.m., the police said. The Airport police have seized the tractor and arrested its driver. In another incident, Kamala Bai (60) was killed on the spot when she was run over by a lorry near K.R. Puram bus stand on Old Madras Road around 8.45 p.m. The K.R. Puram police have seized the lorry and are on the lookout for its driver.

Man held

The Airport police arrested Chandrashekar (27) of Sriramanagari on a charge of theft and recovered a motor worth Rs. 5,000. The police said that the accused had allegedly stolen the motor from the MSIL Air Cargo complex on the airport premises.
