Medians to be modified

KOCHI JAN. 10. Road medians and humps in the city will be modified so that they do not pose a danger to motorists. This was decided today at a RTA meeting held here, under the chairmanship of the District Collector, Gyanesh Kumar. A sub committee has been formed with representatives from the police, RTO and the PWD, to study the issue.

Valedictory function

Vice-Chancellor of M.G. University, Cyriac Joseph, inaugurated the valedictory function of the Vidyarthi Sangamam organised by the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, here on Saturday. The meet, organised with regard to Vivekananda Jayanthi and the National Youth Day, was also attended by the Director of Vivekanda Kendra, P. Parameshwaran. In his keynote address, Mr. Parameshwaran, said that it is a notable change that even the leftists, who used to refer to Swami Vivekananda as the shabby face of Indian revivalism, have started accepting him.

Drawing competition

Film actress Navya Nair inaugurated the Ramji Smaraka Drawing Competition at the Children's Park on Saturday. At the competition organised by the Ernakulam Press Club, 200-odd children participated in four categories. At the inaugural session, Press Club president, Shaji Jacob, Secretary, Hari Krishnan and others spoke on the occasion.
