Border road in disarray

Sir, — The road through Shrimandal village, 13 km. from Bidar on Andhra Pradesh border, is the only main route to 13 villages. Those of the neighbouring State rely heavily on this road which is under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department. The road was asphalted five years ago, but it wore away soon as the work was sub-standard. A part of the road is not motorable. Many petitions submitted to the department seeking its repair have gone in vain. Appeals have been made to the MLAs of Bidar and Bhalki also.

The Minister for Public Works, Dharam Singh, should inspect the road and order an inquiry into the lapses of the department.

Kishore Rupnure,

Bidar.

More buses wanted

Sir, — At present, red-board buses start from Andhrahalli and Thigalarapalya to K.R. Market and the Kempe Gowda Bus Station.

The buses are overcrowded at the starting point itself. Those waiting at stops en route are not able to board them.

This has been brought to the notice of the authorities concerned, but action is yet to be initiated.

Passengers from Vidyamanyanagar and its surrounding areas face problems every day, especially during peak hours.

For the sake of working women, schoolchildren, and senior citizens, it has been requested to run two red-board buses from Vidyamanyanagar Temple to the Kempe Gowda Bus Station and back from 6.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. But the request has not been met.

The red-board bus from Jalahalli Cross to Bommanahalli and back should be routed via Andhrahalli Circle, Herohalli Cross, and Sunkadakatte.

K.R. Raghavendra Rao,

Bangalore.
