Sir, This refers to the editorial, `Vandalism in Pune' (Jan. 10). The destroying of numerous invaluable cultural relics in the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute is a blow to the country's liberal mindset. The perpetrators of the dastardly act cannot claim to represent any civilised section of our society.

* * * Sir, Invaluable manuscripts concerning a large swathe of Indian history painstakingly collected over several years have been destroyed. All right-minded people should have a rethink on the intolerance creeping into the vitals of our society.
