Cuddapah
CUDDAPAH, JAN. 11. The police resolved a two-month-old theft case in which a 65-year-old woman, Vanipenta Anasuyamma, was inflicted severe bleeding head injuries in Maruthinagar here, by arresting a milkman and deduced that the culprits did not steal any property on the day of the offence. Addressing a press conference here, the Superintendent of Police, V.C. Sajjanar, and the Additional SP, T. Narasinga Rao, alleged that the correspondent of Mahila Mandali Anganwadi Teachers' Training Centre, Vanipenta Nagamani, lodged a false complaint with the Cuddapah Taluk police that 10 tolas of gold and jewellery on her mother were stolen on November 26 and warned that action would be initiated against her. The `exaggeration' in the complaint had `sidetracked' the police to investigate with the notion that a professional gang was involved in the offence, but in fact it proved out to be the handiwork of a sole accused, Akula Nagasubbaiah, who regularly supplied milk to her house, they said.
