NEW DELHI, JAN. 11. The induction programme for new learners enrolled in academic programmes for January 2004 session of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will be held across the country through the teleconferencing mode on January 17 and 18. Announcing this, the University said all new students are expected to reach the regional centres for direct interaction with faculty and officers. Pointing out that the programme details have been posted on the IGNOU website at http/www.ignou.ac.in, the University said the induction programme will begin with an address by the Vice-Chancellor, H.P. Dikshit, which will be followed by a general session on student support services. Thereafter the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, S.C. Garg, will speak on how to study through the distance mode and this would be followed by an introduction to the various academic programmes. The following day, on January 18, there would be another induction session in which the remaining programmes would be covered. The last session will also be for summing up and obtaining feedback, a feature IGNOU has also in-built in all its operations. Further, the University said, the coordinators are expected to fill information into the website and send it online to the Regional Services Division and a copy of the same to V.R. Jagannathan of IGNOU.
