HYDERABAD, JAN. 11. Hosts South Central Railway knocked out defending champion Western Railway via golden goal 5-4 to set up a title-clash with Northern Railway, which beat Integral Coach Factory also via tie-breaker 5-4, in the 64th All-India Railway hockey championship at Begumpet Police Stadium here today. The host shot into lead in the third minute through a field goal from S. Prabhakar. Soon, Dung Dung was in the scoring act with a wonderful sprint down the flank to find the target with a carpet drive in the 27th minute. On resumption, however Western Railway scored four goals in-a-row. S. Shivendra scored three goals while S. Gurusey netted the fourth. Bipin Thimmaiah of SCR reduced the margin and Dung Dung's effort took the issue into golden goal rule. SCR's Dung Dung, Prabhakar, Bipin Thimmaiah showed the desired coordination upfront. More importantly, SCR clinched the issue when Prabhakar showed a fine sense of opportunism by latching on to a defensive lapse when a free-hit was not cleared to safety. The unmarked Prabhakar essayed a delectable reverse flick from the top of the `D' to fashion a thrilling win in a match which saw SCR earn eight penalty-corners and Western Railway two.
