Koodankulam jetty to receive first barge

TIRUNELVELI, JAN. 11. The specially designed jetty at Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project site will be receiving the first barge on January 14 with a consignment of over-dimensional equipment for reactors.

Talking to , the project director, S.K. Agrawal, said the shipment, weighing about 1,600 tonnes, would be unloaded to the barge and the motorised flat-bottomed boat would be manoeuvred to the site. Onboard and onshore heavy equipment would be used to unload the freight.

"The trial run for this exercise will be conducted for a few days.''
