THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 11. The Museum police have arrested three persons on charges of attempting to molest a woman who was riding pillion on a two-wheeler driven by her husband. The accused were identified as Sunil (32), Unni (25) and Biju (28), all residents of Kazhakoottam. The police said the incident occurred in front of the Keltron Square near Vellayambalam. According to the police, the complainant, Usha (36) and her husband, Suresh (38), got into a verbal duel with the youth who were also travelling on motorbikes. The police case against the accused was that they stopped the Usha and her husband at the junction and manhandled the couple. The police registered a case of attempt to molest under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused. An official said the youth would be produced before the Judicial First Class magistrate Court on Monday.
Under-trial held
The Museum police have arrested an under-trial prisoner who escaped from police custody on December 28, 2003. The police identified the accused as Sethu Krishnan. An official said that he was arrested by the police constable, Satheeshan, from the Union Bank of India where he had come to encash a cheque. The police said he was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-II and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
Body found
The body of a woman was found floating in the Sreevaraham pond on Sunday morning. The woman, apparently in her 50s, is yet to be identified. The body has been kept in the Medical College Hospital mortuary after post-mortem. The Fort police have registered a case.
