Honorary degrees

Sir, — Kudos to Laloo Prasad Yadav for rejecting the offer of a doctorate. On the other hand, it is preposterous that universities should seek to confer honorary doctorates on all and sundry because of the power/position held by them. Time this practice was done away with.
