NEW DELHI, JAN. 12. A man has sought a Rs. 5 lakhs compensation for "being hit by a stray AK-47 bullet during the shoot-out between terrorists and security personnel in the Parliament premises on December 13, 2001''. The petitioner, Shyam Prasad Khandwal, submitted that he was hit by the bullet when he was supervising the work of a guest house as an employee of a private contractor at 6 Aurangzeb Road on the day of the attack on Parliament. Taking note of the petition, Justice Manmohan Sarin issued notices to the Union Government, the Prime Minister Office (PMO), the Delhi Police Commissioner, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Tughlak Road police station and Messrs Rupayan, employer of the petitioner, asking them to file replies to the petition within four weeks. The petitioner sought compensation submitting that due to the bullet injury on the left thigh he had lost his job.
