VIJAYAWADA, JAN. 12. The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), a Government of India enterprise, will extend loans up to Rs. 4 lakhs without the pre-condition of collateral security for the youth seeking to set up self-employment units. However, the applicants must have a clear idea and determination about the proposed project before seeking the help of the corporation, its Deputy Manager, Anand Kumar, said here on Monday. Addressing the National Youth Day celebrations organised by the Jana Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), he appealed to the youth not to hanker for Government jobs and instead focus on setting up own units either as a group or as individual units. The corporation was willing to extend loans even up to Rs. 1 crore for deserving candidates, he noted. Interested youths could personally approach him at the corporation's office, located at APIIC building, Autonagar, besides Ramakrishna theatre. He complimented the JSS for offering training in vocational and self-employment courses at a nominal fee. Mr. Kumar urged the youth to take the necessary steps to create awareness and combat AIDS to which mostly youth were succumbing. The District Employment Officer, Hanuman Naik, who was the chief guest, urged the youth not to clamour for Government jobs. Pointing out that there were more than 1.25 lakh registered unemployed youth with the District Employment Exchange, Mr. Naik regretted that many of these jobless youth were nursing the hope of securing a Government job. "Many of them even today come to us and plead that they be accommodated in some Government vacancy as they are reaching the age bar,'' he said. Mr. Naik asked the youth to take advantage of self-employment schemes launched by the State and Central governments.
