Additional flight

KOCHI, JAN. 12. Jet Airways will operate an extra flight between Kochi and Bangalore on January 17, 20 and 23, said an official press note here today. The flight, 9W 4511, will reach Nedumbassery at 11.40 a.m. and will return to Bangalore (9W 4512) at 12.10 p.m.

Painting workshop

The Indian School of Arts here will organise a 10-day traditional painting workshop from January 15. The workshop will concentrate on mural painting and Tanjore painting. The renowned mural artist, K.K. Warrier, will inaugurate the workshop. Those wishing to take part should register their names at the school on the M.G. Road.

Memorial lecture

This year's Pareekshith Memorial Lecture conducted by the Government Sanskrit College, Thripunithura, will be held at the college on January 16 and 17. The main speaker will be K. Ayyappa Panicker, who will talk on `Concepts of Indian narratology'.

Plea on bus terminal

The Vyttila Residents Welfare Association here has demanded that the newly proposed bus terminal be set up at Vyttila. If the terminal is set up at Kakkanad or Vennala, it would in no way ease the pressure at Vyttila junction, it said. If the terminal is set up at Vyttila, it would benefit passengers as it is centrally located, it said.

Reception to `yatra'

The Kochi Corporation will accord a welcome to the Jalaparisthithi Swadeshi Sandesha Yatra at Changampuzha Park, Edappally, on January 19. The yatra began from Kasargod on January 10. The Kerala Land Users Board Commissioner, K.J. Alphons Kannanthanam, is leading the yatra.

Memorial meeting

The Mathai Manjooran commemoration will take place at the Kerala Press Academy Hall, Kakkanad, on January 15. M.N. Vijayan, writer, will deliver the Mathai Manjooran memorial speech on `The role of the Left in modern India'. C.S. Gangadharan, chairman of the Mathai Manjooran Memorial Trust, will preside over the function.
