ANANTAPUR, JAN. 13. The officials of Election Commission of India (ECI) visited several villages in Gorantla, Nallamada and Kadiri Assembly constituencies in the district today and conducted a review meeting with the officials at Puttaparthi on revision of electoral rolls. In a meeting with the officials the secretary in the ECI, Tapas Kumar, and another official, Shinde, directed the district officials not to consider bulk applications for inclusion in voters list if such applications were not supported by an affidavit. They reiterated that the names of residual voters would be removed from the rolls if they would fail to respond to the notices served on them. The District Collector, Y.V. Anuradha, the Joint Collector, Shashibhushan Kumar, three Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) and other officials attended the meeting. The ECI officials urged the district authorities to go ahead with the deletion of bogus voters. Later, talking to newspersons the ECI officials said the contestants in the coming elections would be disqualified if they fail to announce their properties.
