KURNOOL, JAN. 13. Representatives of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee have made an effort to bring about truce among Congress groups by holding a series of meetings separately with the DCC president, Kotla Suryaprakasa Reddy, and the Congress leader, D. Vishnuvardhan Reddy. The parleys went on till late in the evening yesterday. The APCC representatives, J.C. Diwakar Reddy, Anam Ramnarayan Reddy and the district observer, Mallu Ravi, tried to convince the DCC president on the need to bring together all groups and leaders of the Congress considering the biggest battle ahead for the party. Mr. Suryaprakasa Reddy opposed the re-entry of Mr. Vishnuvardhan Reddy into the party recently. The DCC president found fault even with the former CLP leader, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, for helping Mr. Vishnuvardhan Reddy come back into the party fold. Mr. Vishnuvardhan Reddy fell out with the Kotla family during the mandal parishad elections three years ago when Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy was alive. Subsequently, Mr. Vishnuvardhan Reddy was suspended from the party for the revolt. The differences had persisted till recently. The observers were understood to have told Mr. Suryaprakasa Reddy that the future of the Congress would be bleak if it did not win the next election. All Congress men should come together to keep the party afloat. They were understood to have told Mr. Vishnuvardhan Reddy to cooperate with the party leadership at district level for smooth functioning. The observers also met other leaders. However, the warring groups were not made to face each other. A joint meeting would be organised only after the leaders reconciled.
