Clear sky forecast

Mainly clear sky is forecast for Wednesday. The minimum temperature would be 14 degrees C. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 26.7 degrees C and minimum was 17.2 degrees C on Tuesday, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 72 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 69 per cent. At airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 28.4 degrees C and 13.5 degrees C respectively, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 85 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. 57 per cent. The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 26.6 degrees C and 18.0 degrees C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 74 per cent.

Coaching for

GRE/TOEFL

The Andhra University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau is organising coaching for GRE/TOEFL from the third week of this month. Interested candidates may register themselves with the bureau, says an AU release.

UGC team's visit

The University Grants Commission (UGC) officials will be visiting Andhra University on Saturday and Sunday for a meeting with principals of its affiliated colleges for settlement of the Tenth Plan grants. The team is led by the UGC Additional Secretary, R.K. Chauhan.

Pongal carnival

Pranayamam camp

A yoga pranayamam and treatment camp will be organised at the Bullayya College grounds under the guidance of Swami Sri Ramdevji Mahraj of Divya Yoga Mandir Trust in Kankhal (Hardwar) from January 24 to February 2. The `pran-sadhana' performed at the camp can help the obese lose weight up to 8 kg and the under-weight in gaining up to 4 kg, claim the organisers. The last date for registration is January 18. Food festival

The Taj Residency is organising a Sankranti food festival at its Harbour View from Wednesday to Sunday. Apart from the regular cuisines, desserts like chalividi, boorelu, bobbatlu, ariselu and khaja can be savoured by the guests.

Bus shelter

inaugurated

A bus shelter constructed with the assistance of NTPC Simhadri Thermal Power Project at Tikkavanipalem village was inaugurated by the Simhadri plant's general manager, R. Rama Rao on Tuesday. The RTC regional manager, D. Satyanarayana, and the RTC executive engineer, P. Gajapathi Raju, attended.
