Letters to the Editor
Sir, Ramakrishna Hegde was one of the few practitioners of principled politics and probity in public life, a person who resigned as Chief Minister on moral grounds. The last few years of his career were devoted to resuscitating the moribund Janata Dal, a party he had built by toil, though frequently marked by squabbles with Deve Gowda.
Vijay R.K.,
* * * Sir, Hegde was not only a gentleman-politician, he was a gentle person too. Those who knew him fairly intimately have never seen him getting angry. Those who had occasions to serve when he was Minister and Chief Minister never saw him chiding his subordinates. He was a lovable friend, dignified host and perfect in his manners. Courtesy was his hallmark.
P.J. Bagilthaya,
