PONDICHERRY, JAN. 14. The Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry, N. N. Jha, today greeted the people on the occasion of Pongal. He wished that the festival usher in happiness, cheer and prosperity in the life of the people. The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, in his message, promised that the Government would continue to implement schemes to improve the lot of the farmers. Realising the importance of agriculture in the development of economy, the administration launched `agri Net' and established `Uzhavar udhaviyagams' to counsel farmers. The Speaker, M.D.R. Ramachandran, the Agriculture Minister, A. Namassivayam, the Education Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan, the Local Administration Minister, A. Elumalai, the Opposition Leader in the Assembly, R.V. Janakiraman, were among those who extended greetings.
