Focus on time management

and study skills

NEW DELHI JAN.14. A workshop on "Study Skills and Time Management' was conducted by Asha Nayyar of `Career Smart' for the Class IX students of Delhi Public School, Rohini, recently in the Capital.

The students had a brainstorming session where Ms. Nayyar emphasised the importance of setting goals and prioritising. She enlightened the students on how to manage the various aspects of studying like learning, reinforcement and retention. She also familiarised the students with the various techniques of planning for examination.

Market improvement work dedicated

NEW DELHI JAN. 14. The Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, dedicated the "Environmental Improvement Work of Malcha Marg Market" to the citizens of the New Delhi at a function organised by New Delhi Municipal Council this morning.

The developmental work has been completed within a period of one year at an estimated cost of Rs. 95 lakh.

Malcha Marg Market is an important market as it is visited by foreign dignitaries living in the Embassy area and Diplomatic Enclave.

Welcoming the guests, the NDMC Chairman, Ramesh Narayanaswami, informed that the civic body has improved the surroundings of the market and now it has been made pedestrian friendly. The car parking which was earlier near the market has been shifted to the adjoining area and with an increased capacity from 100 to 150 cars. It will also accommodate 100 scooters and cycles. Now the market has a proper walkway with adequate modern lighting.

IGNOU induction programme

NEW DELHI JAN.14. The "Induction Programme" for new learners enrolled in academic programmes for the January 2004 session of the Indira Gandhi National Open University would be held nationwide through teleconferencing on January 17 and 18.

All students are expected to reach the regional centres for direct interaction with the faculty and officers of the university. Programme details have been posted on IGNOU website http/www.ignou.ac.in.

The induction programme would begin with an address by its Vice-Chancellor, H.P. Dikshit, while Pro-Vice-Chancellor, S.C. Garg, would speak on study through distance mode.

The last session is for summing up and obtaining feedback, a feature IGNOU has inbuilt in all its operations. The coordinators are expected to fill information into the website and send it online to the Regional Services Division and a copy of the same to Prof.V.K. Jagannathan of IGNOU.
