HYDERABAD, JAN. 14. Those who are keen to relive the traditional Sankranti festival ambience, head straight to Shilparamam, the crafts village. It is organising `Sankranti Sambaralu' depicting the authentic style of celebration of the festival from Wednesday. Culinary competitions were also organised as part the celebrations on Wednesday. A Rangoli competition will be organised on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Those interested in taking part should register their names before 3 p.m. on the same day by paying Rs. 100 in the form of a demand draft in favour of the Special Officer, Shilparamam. A number of cultural programmes comprising `Sankranti Patalu', Andhra Janapada Vaibhavam, dance ballets and various folk dances like Jangama Devara, Budabukkalu, Chekka Bhajana and harvest dance by tribals will be performed on all the days of the festival, concluding on Friday, according to the Special Officer, G. Kishan Rao.
Dattatreya greets people
<167,2p,1>The Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Bandaru Dattatreya, on Wednesday greeted people of the State on the eve of Sankranti. In a statement issued here, he hoped that the festival would herald a new chapter of prosperity and plenty in their lives.
