THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 14. The Kallambalam police have arrested a 30-year-old Government doctor on charges of outraging the modesty of a 14-year-old girl. The accused was identified as K. P. Suresh Kumar of the ESI Hospital, Navaikulam. According to the police, the girl had approached the doctor complaining of knee-pain on Wednesday. Later, the girl went to the police station with her mother and gave a written complaint stating that the doctor had outraged her modesty. A case was registered against the doctor under Section 354 (outraging of modesty) of the Indian Penal Code. He was given bail from the police station.
Boy killed
in car accident
A 10-year-old boy was killed and seven school children injured when the car in which they were travelling lost control and rammed against a house near the CSI church at Palode. The police identified the deceased as Rajesh. The Sub Inspector (Palode) said the driver absconded after the accident. The police are probing whether the accident occurred due to overloading. An investigation is also on to ascertain the road-worthiness of the vehicle.
Traffic arrangements
The Rural police have put in place special traffic and security arrangements to handle the `reverse influx' of pilgrims returning after the Makara Vilakku festival at Sabarimala. A senior official said vehicles carrying Sabarimala pilgrims would be entering the district in the wee hours. Highway patrols have been asked to take all measures to prevent accidents. Overspeeding would be discouraged. Special patrolling has been organised along the M.C. Road and the National Highway.
