Youth killed

in accident

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 14. A 30-year-old youth was killed and another injured when the motorbike on which they were travelling collided with a goods autorickshaw near Pazhayakarackamandapam on Wednesday evening. Police identified the deceased as Vignesh, a resident of Balaramapuram. The injured person, Renjith (19), was riding pillion when the accident occurred at around 7-30 p.m. He is under treatment at the Medical College Hospital.

Centenary

celebrations

The year-long centenary celebrations of the St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School would commence on January 19. The centenary celebrations of the school, which was established in 1905, would be inaugurated by the Governor, Sikander Bakht, at the school auditorium. The felicitation of retired teachers, a family get-together, inter-school quiz competition, cultural festival, an all-Kerala basketball tournament, a sports and arts festival, stage shows, science exhibition and `talents day' would be organised as part of the celebrations.

Memorial

lecture

The V. K. Krishna Menon memorial lecture on `Science, Technology, Environment and Social change' organised by the Bodhananda Research Foundation for Management and Leadership Studies, would be held at the Karthika Tirunal Theatre on January 24. The renowned nuclear scientist, Raja Ramanna, would deliver the memorial lecture. The programme would be inaugurated by the present head of the royal family of erstwhile Travancore, Uthradom Tirunal Marthanda Varma.
