NEW DELHI, JAN. 14. Two men, who along with their accomplices had allegedly robbed two employees of Deep Hyundai Motors outside a bank at Punjabi Bagh in West Delhi on Monday, have been arrested from Gokalpuri in North-East Delhi. A constable sustained stab injuries while trying to nab one of the accused, who also injured himself on head and abdomen in a bid to escape. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, North-East Delhi, Pravir Ranjan, constables Sher Singh and Vinod were doing tenant verification in the Old Mustafabad area of Gokalpuri when they spotted three men apparently searching for some address. Since they appeared to be police personnel, the constables inquired from them about the purpose of their visit. The suspects did not give satisfactory reply, following which the constables tried to question them further. But, the suspects started fleeing from the scene. The duo then gave them a chase and overpowered one of the suspects. In a bid to free himself, the suspect whipped out a surgical blade and attacked Sher Singh, injuring him in the left hand. However, Sher Singh did not lose his grip over him and overpowered him with the help of Vinod. The suspect then inflicted injuries on himself. He made a 10 centimetre cut on his head and stabbed himself in the abdomen as well. During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the Punjabi Bagh case, in which they robbed two employees of Deep Hyundai Motors of Rs. 1.85 lakhs.
