Police acquires chopper on trial
NEW DELHI,
JAN. 14.
The Delhi police have acquired a helicopter from Pawan Hans, a public sector undertaking, and would be flying it for a fortnight over the Capital's sky to assess its utility in keeping a surveillance over traffic and security.
The helicopter, Bell 407, would be equipped with a camera and searchlights and a Delhi police team would fly in it. The trial will begin on January 15 and continue till January 30.
However, senior officers of the Delhi police maintained that it was not in pursuance of the long pending proposal for equipping the Delhi police with helicopters. It was just being done on a trial basis and the company was not being paid any charge.
