People told to condemn naxal violence

By Our Staff Reporter

KURNOOL, JAN. 16. The Minister for Higher Education, N. Md. Farooq, has called upon people to condemn the violence by extremists in the State. Addressing a meeting organised by the police to educate people facing threat from extremists at Nandyal on Thursday, he said people should boldly voice themselves against the senseless violence being perpetrated by extremists.

The Superintendent of Police, V.R. K. Mohan Rao, said people should resist the violent culture of the People's War. People's might was more powerful than gun-wielding extremists. People should know the fact that they had right to existence. He said extremists would not face repression if they surrendered to the democratic system. The OSD, Ravinder, said most of the victims of extremists were from the poorer sections. The destruction caused by extremists placed a heavy financial burden on the people. He said the government initiated development works worth Rs one crore at Vadlaramapuram after the villagers resisted extremists. The Deputy SPs, Saya Reddy, Venkata Narayana and others were present.
