UDUPI, JAN. 16. Several tableaux will be taken out in a procession on Sunday as part of the Paryaya festival in Udupi. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, the Chief Coordinator of the Paryaya Committee, Vijay Ballal, said these tableaux would be one of the major attractions of the festival. They are Sri Chaturbhuja Kaliyamardana Krishna, Kamadhenu feeding milk to Lord Srinivasa, Gajendra Moksha, Balanjaneya, Gitopadesha, Samudra Mathana, Anjaneya in Ravana's Palace, Krishna Rasaleela, Navaneetachora, Kunjargiri mountain and temple, Hanuman, Bheema, Madhwacharya worshipping Lord Kadagolu Krishna, Lakshmana cutting the nose of Surpanakha, Sage Brighu getting angry at Vaikunta, Vadiraja going out on a travel in a palanquin, Bheema in a cart, Vishwamitra giving lessons to Luv and Kusha, along with Sita, Narasimha Avatara, Shamantakamani, Shakatasura Vadhe, Vali Sugreeva, Udupi Sri Krishna Prabhavali and Bhasmasura Mohini. A number of folk and cultural troupes would also participate in the procession. They include the "Somakasura'', "Tatiraya'', Kalladaka team, "Rana kahale'' instrument team, "chande'' team comprising 108 musicians, the "pancha vadya'' team from Kerala, saxophone recital team, a team of dolls, "panjina kunita'', "pata kunita'', "banaki kugu'', "Somana kunita'' team from Tumkur, "Chita mela'' team from Hassan, "Kangilu nritya'', "Karadi majalu'' from Bagalkot, "Veeragaase'' from Chikmagalur, "jagate mela'', and bhajan teams. The presiding deity of Admar Math, Sri Chaturbhuja Kaliyamardana Krishna, Vishwapriya Tirtha Swamiji, who would ascend the Paryaya Peetha and the swamijis of the Ashta Maths would lead the procession in palanquins. There would be a special fire works display at Joddu Katte by Sri Kaleeshwara Fire Works from Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. The Paryaya procession would begin from Joddu Katte at 2.30 a.m. on Sunday. It would pass through the Taluk Office Road, Diana Circle, Old Post Office Road, Ideal Circle, Tenkapete and culminate at Car Street. Parking facility for vehicles has been made at a place behind Rajangana, on Board High School premises, the North School Ground, Beedina Gudde Maidan, Poornaprajna College premises, Mother of Sorrows Church premises, Bailakere, and MESCOM office premises. Special parking facility has been made for VIPs and Paryaya awardees behind Rajangana. Cloakrooms have been set up at the Bhandarkeri Math and Krishnapur Math halls. A blood donation camp will be held at Hotel Maurya from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. the same day.
