MANGALORE, JAN. 17. The Central Arecanut and Coca Marketing and Processing Cooperative Limited (CAMPCO) would export 30 tonnes of arecanut to Afghanistan on a trial basis, its President, B. Nagaraja Shetty, said here on Saturday. Addressing presspersons he said the container would leave Mumbai Port within three days. He said with relations between India and Pakistan getting normalised in recent days, CAMPCO was hoping to export more quantities of arecanut to Pakistan. There was an annual demand of one lakh tonnes of arecanut in Pakistan. Though Pakistan was importing arecanut from other smaller countries, there was a huge demand for Indian arecanut due to its quality. Mr. Shetty said efforts were on to export CAMPCO chocolates and Coca semi-finished products to Australia. CAMPCO had set a net profit target of Rs. 10 crores for 2003-04, he said.
