ANANTAPUR, JAN. 17. The voter strength in the district has come down by 8.76 per cent after the summary revision of electoral rolls completed on January 15. The total number of voters has come down to 24,52,458 after the revision against 26,87,835 voters in the draft rolls. When contacted, the District Revenue Officer, V. Mohan Rao, stated that a total of 1,29,467 voters were included in the rolls against the claims of 2,05,221 for inclusion. Similarly, 3,64,844 voters were deleted from the rolls on account of lack of response to the notices served on the residual voters, death of voters and those applied for general deletion. The decrease of voters was high in the Kadiri Assembly constituency with the voter strength going down by 14.40 per cent. It was also high in Anantapur (13.96 per cent), Gooty (13.55), Gorantla (11.25), Uravakonda (10.38) and Nallamada (10.06). The decrease was less than 5 per cent in Madakasira (4.66 per cent), Rayadurg (4.82) and Tadipatri (4.83). Of the 3,64,844 voters deleted from the draft rolls, 3,32,958 were deleted for being non-responsive to the notices served to the residual voters, who were not having electronic photo identity cards, 27,069 were deleted due to death of voters and another 4,817 were deleted due to the objections raised on inclusion of names or seeking deletion. Over all, 70,167 names were deleted from the draft rolls of Anantapur assembly constituency and 31,233 were included afresh. Similarly, the deletion was high in Kadiri (39,187), Gooty (33,803), Tadipatri (26,366), Uravakonda (23,627), Dharmavaram (23,273) and Hindupur (20,676). The total number of voters after the revision of electoral rolls is as follows (constituency-wise): Kadiri (1,79,062), Nallamada (1,35,238), Gorantla (1,61,702), Hindupur (1,88,250), Madakasira (1,62,773), Penukonda (1,66,965), Kalyanadurg (1,96,442), Rayadurg (1,74,821), Uravakonda (1,54,351), Gooty (1,56,475), Singanamala (1,49,313), Anantapur (2,40,008), Dharmavaram (1,93,185) and Tadipatri (1,93,873). The final list of electoral rolls will be published on January 20. All the recognised political parties will be given three sets of (district, constituency and mandal) electoral rolls.
