Temperature

Tiruchi Jan.17. The City today registered a maximum temperature of 30.7 degree Celsius and a minimum of 17.8 degree Celsius.

Environmental award

The State Government has proposed to give environmental awards to meritorious individuals/organisations involved in the field of environmental education and awareness, environmental protection and environmental management during 2003.

Those, who have been awarded in the past, are not eligible to apply again for the award, an official release said. Besides these awards, a cash prize of Rs.5,000 is being awarded for the best research article on environmental issues published during January to December 2003 for encouraging research publications in the field of environmental science.

The last date for the submission of filled-in application to the Director, Department of Environment, Panagal Building, Saidapet, Chennai is January 31, the release added.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur reservoir stood at 30.35 feet today. The inflow was 208 cusecs and discharge nil.
