Ghorpade's son to re-enter politics

By M. Ahiraj

Karthik Ghorpade

BELLARY, JAN. 17. Karthik Ghorpade, son of the senior Congress leader, M.Y. Ghorpade, has decided to re-enter politics to fill the vacuum that will be caused by the decision of his father to retire from active politics.

Mr. Karthik Ghorpade told that he would like to take an independent path and keep away from political parties, including the Congress. "In the wake of my father announcing his retirement from active politics, I decided to re-enter (politics). I am keen on developing a rapport with the people as an independent and not as an associate of the Congress or any other political party," he said.

Without naming anybody, Mr. Karthik Ghorpade said he decided to return to active politics in the wake of vested interests in the district Congress trying to sideline him and distance people from the Ghorpade family.

"I am aware of what they have done. As a result, common people are unable to approach my father directly and air their grievances or get their work done. Now my aim is to bridge the gap between my family and the people. I am confident that people will support me," he said.
