RAMANATHAPURAM, JAN.17. Thousands of people from various parts of the State as well as neighbouring Kerala witnessed the `sandhanakoodu' festival, highlight of the annual festival at Erwadi that took place on Thursday night. The festivities began on January 3 with the hoisting of the festival flag at the main dargah. The sandhanakoodu ceremony began in the early hours of Thursday during which the sandhankoodu was carried out in procession and applying of sandal paste took place on the holy `samadhi' of the saint within the main dargah. Elaborate security arrangements were made.
