KOCHI, JAN. 17. The Ernakulam Central Police have registered a case against the Karikkamury-based firm that had reportedly recruited 500 ex-servicemen from the State for being sent to Iraq to help the U.S. forces stationed there. A cheating case has been registered against the firm under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code, as the firm had not clearly stated the objective for the recruitment, said a police officer attached to the station. The investigation into the case is being led by the Sub-Inspector, Kunjappan. No arrests have been made. "Representatives of the firm were summoned to the police station. They have been asked to produce all records of the recruitment. The antecedents of the firm too are being probed," the police officer said.
